The main responsibilities of the Department of Regional Revitalization are to organize and formulate development plans and policies for former revolutionary base areas, areas inhabited by minority nationalities, remote and border areas, poverty-stricken areas and other areas with special difficulties, formulate plans for relocation and provide employment as a form of poverty relief; make major policy recommendations for Xinjiang- and Tibet-related economic and social development, coordinate and promote pairing assistance; propose policies and measures to improve ecological compensation mechanism; coordinate and promote the adjustment and renovation of old industrial cities and old industrial bases in urban areas, economic transformation of resource-based areas, and comprehensive management of sinkholes in coal mining areas and independent industrial and mining areas; and organize and formulate plans for disaster relief and reconstructions, and coordinate relevant major issues.

Since the 19th CPC National Congress, we have adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implemented the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and conscientiously performed our duties and responsibilities under the leadership of the CPC Leadership Group of NDRC. We have attached greater importance to the revitalization and development of special areas such as the former revolutionary base areas, areas inhabited by minority nationalities, remote and border areas, poverty-stricken areas, and to targeted poverty elimination. We have achieved decisive progress in relocation projects and have seen remarkable results in the revitalization and development of special areas including the former revolutionary base areas, areas inhabited by minority nationalities, remote and border areas, poverty-stricken areas, resource-based areas, old industrial areas, and areas with serious ecological degradation. We will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, continue to strengthen our commitment to “the Four Consciousnesses”, “the Four-sphere Confidence”, and “the Two Upholds”. We will remain focused on our goals and work hard on them, so as to ensure our victory in the fight against poverty with high quality and continually open up a new prospect for regional revitalization and development.
