Ning Jizhe Holds Video Meeting with the OECD

On February 4, 2021, Ning Jizhe, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commision (NDRC), held a video meeting with Ms. Laurence Boone, Chief Economist of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) to exchange views on the OECD’s upcoming Economic Survey of China.
Ning Jizhe introduced China’s macro-economic situation and the optimization of the business environment as requested. He noted, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has coordinated Covid-19 control and economic and social development and was among the first to have put the virus under control and to have restored positive economic growth.
Ning Jizhe answered questions such as China’s economic prospects, epidemic control experience, stimulating demographic dividend, improving the social security system, and relaxing market access. The two sides also discussed the prospects for world economic recovery, the response of the service industry to the impact of the epidemic, the creation of a level playing field, and the expansion of the tax base of individual income tax, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in joint research and personnel exchanges.
