NDRC Approves the Foreign Capital Utilization Plan for the ADB Loan
to Air Quality Improvement in the Greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei
Region——Green Financing Scale Up Project
Recently, in order to improve regional air quality, innovate green investment and financing patterns, and mobilize more social capital into green industries, the National Development and Reform Commission has approved the Foreign Capital Utilization Plan for the ADB Loan to the Air Quality Improvement in the Greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region——Green Financing Scale Up Project (I&G’s Green Financing Platform Project Phase II). The Project, to be financed by the ADB loan of $150 million, targets the greater BTH Region (i.e. Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia) and properly expands to the Yangtze River Delta Region, which comprises Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui. The Project will mainly focus on the promotion of renewable energy, energy storage and the reduction of greenhouse gas emission. It will also target the elimination and substitution of coal and continue supporting the subprojects on waste-to-energy, green transportation, energy saving and emission reduction, and follow-up treatment of coal to electricity and coal to gas in rural areas.
