Community with Shared Future

  This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The 75th United Nations General Assembly is an important meeting held at a special historical node. On September 21st, Chinese President Xi Jinping was invited to attend the High-level Meeting to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations via a video link and delivered an important speech. President Xi Jinping said that major changes unseen in a century are taking place in the world.The sudden attack of COVID-19 is a grave test for the entire world. China will continue to be a true follower of multilateralism, stay actively engaged in reforming and developing the global governance system, promote a human community with a shared future, and rally behind the banner of the UN to pursue greater unity and progress.

  As the most representative and authoritative international organization, the United Nations has incorporated the Chinese concept into official documents several times in recent years, demonstrating the wide recognition and active response of the international community. In November 2016, the Belt and Road Initiative was first incorporated into the UN General Assembly Resolution; In February 2017, the concept of a human community with a shared future was first incorporated into the UN General Assembly Resolution; In September 2017, the principle of extensive consultation, joint efforts and shared benefit was incorporated into the Resolution on United Nations and Global Economic Governance.

  In recent years, China has provided public products for global governance through the Belt and Road Initiative, Silk Road Fund, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and BRICS New Development Bank. China has implemented poverty reduction and development cooperation projects in developing countries and contributed to the promotion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development initiated by the United Nations, through the establishment of China-UN Peace and Development Fund, South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund and Climate Change South-South Cooperation Fund. UN Secretary-General Guterres praises China as the leader of Sustainable Development Agenda and the pillar of international cooperation and multilateralism.
