Joint Debugging and Commissioning Tests Completed for
the Pakistan Lahore Orange Line Project
The joint debugging and commissioning tests of the Pakistan Lahore Orange Line have been successfully completed recently. The Orange Line Project is the first large-scale rail transit project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC), and its EPC Contract was signed under the witness of Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping, during his visit to Pakistan in 2015.
The orange line, located in Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city, is the first metro line in the country. With a total length of 25.58 km, and total contract value of 1.602 billion USD. the orange line was constructed by NORINCO International and China State Railway Group. In this February, the consortium led by NORINCO International signed a contract to undertake the operation and maintenance of the project in the coming 8 years.
With the completion of the joint debugging and commissioning tests, preparation work will be accelerated for the earlier operation of the orange line, in the hope of improving the traffic in Lahore and facilitating economic and social development there.
