Future through Jointly Combating COVID-19
Against the test of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and ASEAN countries respond with solidarity and cooperation, and build the Health Silk Road on consensus. The joint anti-contagion actions have demonstrated neighborliness and reflected the connotation of the global community of shared future for mankind.
Return favors with mutual understanding. ASEAN countries extended their helping hands when China was under tremendous pressure to battle the virus. Currently, Chinese government and all sectors of society are offering ASEAN countries quantities of medical supplies, conducting vaccines R&D cooperation, and sharing the experience in pandemic prevention and control as well as diagnosis and treatment. Chinese medical expert teams have successively arrived in Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and Myanmar to support local efforts to combat the virus.
Constantly deepen the public health cooperation mechanism. On February 20th, Special ASEAN-China Foreign Minsters’ Meeting on COVID-19 was convened. China initiated the establishment of a China-ASEAN public health emergency liaison mechanism. On April 14th, Speical ASEAN Plus Three Summit on COVID-19 was held via video link. All attending parties reached consensus on containing the spread of the pandemic, enhancing the level of public health governance, and promoting the recovery of the regional economic development.
