Belt and Road Initiative Creates
Jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative upholds the Silk Road Spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, following the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. The Belt and Road Initiative, comprising policy coordination, connectivity of infrastructure, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and closer people-to-people ties, aims to enhance connectivity and practical cooperation. It is about jointly dealing with various challenges and risks confronting mankind and delivering win-win outcomes and common development. For more than 6 years, the Belt and Road Initiative has made fruitful achievements and has become an international cooperation platform with worldwide participation as well as a popular international public product.
In the future, we will thoroughly implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation by sticking to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits as well as concepts of openness, greenness and integrity, and strive to achieve high-standard, livelihood-improving and sustainable development in order to achieve high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
By the end of 2019, 137 countries and 30 international organizations have signed 199 cooperation agreements with China on jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative and its core idea have been written into relevant documents of the UN, G20, APEC and other regional organizations, forming extensive consensus on international cooperation.
The interconnecting structure of six corridors, six means of communication, multiple countries and multiple ports has been generally formed with lots of thriving cooperation projects. Infrastructure framework formed by railways, roads, shipping, aviation, pipelines and integrated space information networks is under accelerating construction.
By the end of 2019, the total value of trade in goods between China and other Belt and Road countries has exceeded 7.8 trillion US dollars with China's investment in these countries over 110 billion US dollars. A batch of cooperation parks jointly built by China and other participating countries are on the run.
China has initiated the Silk Road Fund, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and other financial institutions and has carried out various forms of cooperation in order to promote the building of a long-term, stable, sustainable, risk controllable and diversified financing system.
China has carried out cultural exchanges with the B&R countries in wide fields and has enhanced mutual understanding by promoting cooperation in education, science & technology, culture, sports, tourism, health, archeology, disaster relief, aid and poverty reduction, environmental protection, etc.
