On November 4, 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) convened the fourth Joint Conference on Advancing Macao's Full Participation in and Contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), together with relevant ministries of the mainland and the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). Lin Nianxiu, Vice Chairman of NDRC, and Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao SAR government, attended and addressed the conference. Xu Jianping, Director General of NDRC's Department of Regional Opening-up, presided over the conference.
At the conference, relevant officials of the Secretary for Economy and Finance, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau under Macao SAR government introduced the progress of Macao's participation in and contribution to the BRI, and offered related suggestions. Xu Jianping explained the general picture where the central government supported Macao in participating in and contributing to the BRI. Representatives from relevant ministries of the mainland provided detailed information about their respective efforts to support Macao in this aspect and responded to the appeals of the Macao SAR government.
