NDRC Chairman Zheng Shanjie meets with DRC Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Christophe Lutundula

On May 23rd, Zheng Shanjie, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, met with Christophe Lutundula, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and other relevant ministers of the DRC.

Zheng Shanjie pointed out that the DRC is an important partner of China in Africa. In recent years, under the common concern and guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Felix Tshisekedi, China and the DRC have maintained a healthy and stable development momentum, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has been steadily promoted. NDRC is willing to strengthen inter-governmental communication with the DRC, further implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen pragmatic cooperation in areas such as resource investment and joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results and promote economic cooperation between China and the DRC to a new level.

Lutundula said that in recent years, the two countries have deepened mutual political trust and achieved fruitful results. The DRC is willing to establish an inter-governmental cooperation mechanism with China, deepen cooperation in resources investment between the two countries, and expand pragmatic cooperation in fields such as digitalization, environment, infrastructure and renewable energy, so as to make positive contributions to the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative and promote the high-quality development of DRC-China relations.
