NDRC and US Multinational Enterprises Roundtable Meeting Held in Guangzhou

On the afternoon of April 19, a roundtable meeting between National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC) and US multinational enterprises in China focusing on the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was successfully held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Li Chunlin, Vice Chairman of NDRC and responsible officials of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 70 representatives from 54 US chambers of commerce and enterprises in China attended the meeting as well.

 

Vice Chairman Li Chunlin said that since 2021, NDRC has established regular communication mechanism with US chambers of commerce and enterprises in China and has held 6 roundtable meetings with the Guangzhou meeting being the first of this year. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is the highland of China's reform and opening up, and is striving to become a strategic pivot for the new development paradigm, a demonstration site for high-quality development, and a leading site for Chinese modernization. NDRC will continue to provide good services as always with relevant authorities. It is hoped that this meeting can actively promote exchanges between Chinese and US businesses. Multinational companies including those from the US are welcome to invest in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, carry out more practical cooperation in fields including technological innovation, green energy, ecological environmental protection, marine economy, and biomedicine, cultivate Chinese market with the Greater Bay Area as the starting point to achievemutual benefit and win-win results and create a better shared future.

During the meeting, responsible officials from relevant departments of NDRC interpreted policies concerning the planning and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promotion of high-level opening up, process towards carbon peak and carbon neutralization and building of business environment. Responsible officials of Guangzhou Municipal Government and Nansha District Government introduced policies and practices related to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area economic circle. Officials from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute introduced how both cities integrate into the Greater Bay Area. Representatives of US chambers of commerce and multinational companies in China had in-depth interaction and exchanges with relevant departments on issues of concern.
