On December 28, 2021, the China-ASEAN Cooperation Forum on Building High-Quality Belt and Road was co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China and ASEAN-China Centre to implement the spirit of the China-ASEAN Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations and promote jointly building of the Belt and Road. At the forum, the two sides conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on cooperation in anti-epidemic measures, infrastructure, trade and investment, green development, finance, culture and other fields, and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Planning and Investment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the establishment of a coordination mechanism for Belt and Road cooperation.
Ning Jizhe, Deputy Chairman of the NDRC, Fu Hua, Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency, the responsible persons of related departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Health Commission of China, the National Railway Group, and the Development Bank of China, as well as China's ambassadors to ASEAN, attended and addressed the forum. Sonexay Siphandone, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Investment of Laos, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia's coordinator for cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister, Dato Dr. Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy of Brunei, Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador of Laos to China, Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana, Ambassador of the Philippines to China, and Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre participated and delivered speeches in the forum by recorded video or video link.
