Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the Foreign Capital Utilization Plan for the Emerging Infectious Diseases Prevention, Preparedness and Response Project (Jiangxi Province and Hainan Province) financed by the IBRD Loan. The total investment of the Jiangxi project is 911 million Yuan and the Hainan Project is 1.44 billion Yuan. IBRD Loan will support these two projects with 100 million and 175 million dollars respectively. The loan will be mainly used for equipment purchase, consulting and persnonnel training. The implementation of these projects will strengthen Jiangxi and Hainan Provincial systems to pilot a multi-sectoral approach for reducing the risk of zoonotic and other emerging health threats.
