In order to further publicize China’s opening-up policy and measures to improve the business environment, attract multinational enterprises investing and running business and making long-term cooperation in China, and to smooth the international industrial chain and supply chain, centering on the theme of green development, the International Cooperation Department of NDRC and the WEF jointly organized 18 representatives from 12 multinational companies to conduct field trip in Kunming City and Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province on June 15-18, 2021. It aims to gain in-depth understanding of the development of green industries in Kunming and Chuxiong, to share industry development experience with each other and to plan for investment and long-term cooperation in Yunnan, in order to promote industrial upgrading and high-quality economic development in Yunnan.

The joint team held three government-enterprise policy dialogue activities with the government of Yunnan Province, Kunming City, Chuxiong Prefecture and local leading enterprises, and inspected Kunming City Planning Museum, Dianzhong New Area, Biodiversity Experience Park, Yunnan Baiyao Group, BOE Silicon-based OLED micro-display project, Chuxiong Yuze Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Chuxiong Jingke Company and Moore Farm and etc.

Relevant leader in charge of the International Cooperation Department of NDRC stated that Yunnan is an important gateway for China to open to the southwest. It is also a pilot zone for opening up along the border and a pioneer area for the implementation of the "going out" strategy in the western part of China. It is also an important treasure house of biodiversity and a barrier for ecological security in the southwest part of China. The 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) will be held in Kunming, Yunnan in October this year. It is hoped that through this field trip, multinational enterprises will have the opportunity to continuously gain insights into Yunnan’s improving business environment and the development prospects of green industries, which could enhance their confidence in investing in Yunnan and long-term development.

This trip to Yunnan is the first stop of the "Walking Davos" brand activity of NDRC and WEF in this year. Next, the two sides will also jointly organize multinational enterprises to conduct field trip in Hainan and other places.

Relevant personnel from the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of NDRC, Academy of Macroeconomic Research, China Chamber of International Commerce, and the "Belt and Road" Innovation and Development Center participated in the field trip.
