On May 14, NDRC and U.S. Multinational Enterprises Roundtable Meeting with embracing opportunities in the Yangtze River Delta Region as its theme and connecting city and business as its aim was held in Suzhou. This event was hosted by the International Department of the National Development and Reform Commission and Suzhou Municipal Government and organized by International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Government of Xiangcheng District, Suzhou. Wang Xiang, Vice Mayor of Suzhou and Gao Jian, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission attended the meeting and delivered opening speeches. 90 representatives from 70 multinational enterprises in China attended the meeting.
Official from International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission chaired the meeting. During the meeting, official of the Department of Regional Economy the National Development and Reform Commission and Suzhou Municipal Government spoke on the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region while official of the Government of Xiangcheng District. Suzhou spoke on the social-economic development of Xiangcheng. Officials from the Department of International Cooperation of National Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Development Planning of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Regional Economy of the National Development and Reform Commission, Suzhou Municipal Government, and the Government of Xiangcheng District, Suzhou answered questions raised by representatives of present at the meeting.
On the afternoon of May 13 and May 14, participants of the meeting went on a field study visit to Yangtze River Delta International R&D Community, Suzhou No.2 Libary, Suzhou Imperial Bricks Museum and etc.
