On November 27, 2020, China-ASEAN Production Capacity and Investment Cooperation Forum (abbreviated as the Forum as follow) was successfully held in Nanning, Guangxi during the 17th CAEXPO. This forum was co-host by National Development and Reform Commission of P.R. China, People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of P.R. China, and jointly organized by International Cooperation Center, National Development and Reform Commission of P.R. China, Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of P.R. China, and CAEXPO Secretariat. H.E. NING Jizhe, Vice Chairman, National Development and Reform Commission & Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics, P.R.C, together with H.E. QIN Rupei, Executive Vice-chairman, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to China, Casey Soda, Ambassador of Cambodia to China, Nusilwan, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, Consul General of Laos to Nanning, and Economic Counsellor of Singapore Embassy to China attended the Forum and delivered speech. Besides, Rahmani, Brunei Ambassador to China, along with representatives of embassies and consulates of Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Belgium to China also attended the Forum.
With the theme of “Deepen Production Capacity Cooperation, Address Common Challenges”, adapting the mode of “Nanning Main Venue + Online Cloud Venue”, the Forum focus on and exchanges opinions in the fields of industry chain and supply chain cooperation, digital economy cooperation, environmental protection cooperation and anti-epidemic cooperation and so on. Communicating cooperation demands, sharing experiences and views, which sets up a platform to further deepen China and ASEAN countries production capacity and investment cooperation, and address the challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic together.
In his keynote speech, NING Jizhe summarized the positive achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation in recent years, introduced the situation of China fighting against the epidemic and economic development, explained the potential and prospects of China and ASEAN to carry out production capacity cooperation and realize the integration and development of industrial chain and supply chain, and put forward four suggestions: (i) Building a new pattern of open and inclusive regional economic cooperation, (ii) Developing a new chain of strong and secure regional industries, (iii) Stimulating new impetus for innovation-led regional development, and (iv) Fostering new growth points for green and incorruptible development of regional economy. What’s more, he expressed sincere welcome to ASEAN enterprises to invest and development industry in China.
In his speech, QIN Rupei said that in recent years, Guangxi positively promoted and actively participated in international production capacity cooperation, and the field of investment cooperation has been expanding. We hope to continue to work hand in hand with ASEAN countries to overcome the difficulties, and achieve new success in production capacity and investment cooperation, precise industrial connection and open sharing platform construction.
In their speeches, the envoys of ASEAN countries to China expressed their support for production capacity and investment cooperation, confirmed the positive role played by production capacity and investment cooperation in promoting regional economic development, introduced the economic development and industrial development needs of their countries, and put forward suggestion and advice on joint addressing to the challenge of COVID-19 epidemic in the next step as well as stabilizing social and economic growth. Representatives from home and abroad enterprises and financial institutions of CP Group of Thailand, China Export & Credit Insurance Company, Silk Road Fund, China Resources Group, Susun Group, SF Express Group and Liugong Group of Guangxi respectively made speeches at the Forum.
Nearly 150 representatives of relevant Chinese government departments, financial institutions, enterprises, think tanks and ASEAN envoys in China, enterprises in China and investment promotion agencies attended the Forum.
