Leader of the National Development and Reform Commission Attends the 4th International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development and Delivers a Speech

To implement the Memorandum of Understanding and Action Plan on Cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative signed between the Chinese Government and UN-Habitat, and to promote sustainable development of cities around the world, from 16 to 18 November, under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the 4th International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development was held in Chengdu which was co-hosted by China Urban and Small Town Reform and Development Center, UN-Habitat and Chengdu municipal people's government. The theme of the forum was "Promoting High Quality Sustainable Development and Building an Opening and Shared City for the Future".

Mr. Su Wei, Deputy Secretary General of NDRC, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. He pointed out that under the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the concept of a community of shared future for mankind has become more popular. We should further exert the active role of cities in promoting cooperation, stabilizing growth and benefiting the people's livelihood, and promote the high-quality development of a new type of urbanization by enhancing the openness of cities, modernizing urban construction and governance, and promoting cooperation and exchanges between cities. Cities across the world should hold the banner of sustainable development higher, strengthen international cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, digital economy, infrastructure construction, humanities, green ecology and etc., and join hands to create a better future.

Representatives from the Department of National Economy, Planning, Foreign Capital Utilization and Overseas Investment and International Cooperation of NDRC attended the meeting.
