On November 30, 2022, the opening ceremony of Timor-Leste's Tibar Bay Port, built by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., was held in Dili, capital of Timor-Leste. Jose Ramos-Horta, President of Timor-Leste, said that the Tibar Bay Port is the most important transportation infrastructure in Timor-Leste in recent years. It will contribute a lot to Timor-Leste's foreign trade and economic development and attract foreign investors to invest and start businesses in Timor-Leste. The Tibar Bay Port will also facilitate the connectivity between Timor-Leste and the global and regional markets, advancing Timor-Leste's application for membership in ASEAN and the World Trade Organization.
