On December 1, a ceremony celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities between Nanjing and Bandar Seri Begawan was held in Nanjing.
Brunei and Nanjing have a time-honored history of friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991, the two countries have been keeping frequent exchanges and cooperation. In 2011, Nanjing and Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital city of Brunei, tied up as sister cities. It is currently the only pair of sister cities between the two countries. In 2018, in the presence of the two heads of state, the two cities renewed the sister cities agreement, which was included in the joint statement of the two countries. This ceremony not only showcases the deep and everlasting friendship between China and Brunei, but also expresses the aspiration of Nanjing and Bandar Seri Begawan to work together to write a new chapter of China-Brunei friendship and cooperation.
