4th Meeting of the Belt and Road, Major Investment Projects and Energy Subcommittee of the Chinese-Saudi High-Level Joint Committee was Held

On October 26, Lian Weiliang, Vice Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission, and his Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, co-chaired the 4th meeting of the Belt and Road, Major Investment Projects and Energy Subcommittee of the Chinese-Saudi High-Level Joint Committee. The two sides exchanged in-depth views and reached broad consensus on the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia, energy cooperation, major investment projects, and Digital Silk Road. After the meeting, both parties signed the minutes of meeting.

 

Lian said that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the practical cooperation between both sides in various fields has achieved fruitful results and highlights since the third meeting of the Subcommittee. Both sides have made practical progress on the jointly development of the the Belt and Road Initiative, made positive progress in major investment cooperation projects, played the role of "ballast stone" in energy cooperation, and steadily promoted the development of Digital Silk Road. Next, both sides should continue to deepen the alignment of development strategies of the two countries, expand production capacity and investment cooperation steadily, improve the level of energy cooperation, strengthen digital economic cooperation, and elevate the comprehensive strategic relationship of China and Saudi Arabia to a new level. 

HRH Prince Abdulaziz congratulated the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Prince Abdulaziz said that Saudi Arabia is willing to continuely be China's largest energy partner. Both sides will jointly promote the allignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and Vision 2030, and expand practical cooperation in the fields of industry, transportation, big data, and AI, etc. Saudi Arabia also expressed their willingness to invite relevant Chinese departments and companies to visit Saudi Arabia in the near future.

Representatives of the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Transport of China, as well as related ministries and agencies of Saudi Arabia attended the meeting.
