On October 16, 2022, the erection task of all box girders along the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (HSR) in Indonesia was completed, which means the track-laying channel was fully opened. At present, all 2,558 box girders along the railway have been erected, all 13 tunnels have been completed, and over 92 percent of the subgrade and station civil works have been completed. The ballastless track slab laying has started, laying a solid foundation for the completion of the HSR and its opening to traffic in June 2023. The high-speed Electrical Multiple Unit and inspection train tailored for Jakarta-Bandung HSR arrived in Indonesia on September 1.
Stretching 142 km in total from Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, to Bandung, the fourth largest city in Indonesia, Jakarta-Bandung HSR is a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative and the pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia. It is also the first overseas construction project of China's high-speed railway with a whole system, all elements and a whole industry chain.
