Chinese firm to invest in first pumped storage power plant projects in Uzbekistan

Recently, a Chinese enterprise and its Uzbekistani partners signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the effective utilization of existing water resources and continuous power generation under conditions of power shortage. According to the memorandum, the Chinese enterprise will participate in the construction of three power stations in Uzbekistan, with a total capacity of 820 megawatts and a cost of 1.6 billion US dollars. According to the plan, all facilities will be fully operational before 2030. Once operational, the country will generate an additional 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and save 835.6 million cubic meters of natural gas.
