Recently, the Chinese-built Jubail 3A independent water desalination plant (IWP) in Saudi Arabia was officially completed. The plant is located in the eastern city of Jubail and utilizes seawater reverse osmosis technology to produce a daily water capacity of 600,000 cubic meters, providing drinking water to 3 million people. It serves as an important water source for Dammam and Riyadh, addressing the growing water demand along the eastern coast of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. As the first large-scale integrated desalination project in Saudi Arabia that uses photovoltaic solar power as a supplementary power source, its photovoltaic power plant can generate 20 percent of the water plant's daily energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions by about 60,000 tons per year.
