Khunjerab Pass, located on the border between China and Pakistan, will be officially opened on April 1. As the highest port in the world, Khunjerab Pass is located in the Karakorum Mountains in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang, and features a harsh climate and geological environment, with the customs clearance period usually from April to November every year.
The Khunjerab Pass is an important pass for the China-Pakistan land economic corridor, with a total import and export cargo volume of more than 200,000 tons during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (from 2016 to 2020). In 2022, Khunjerab Pass supervised an annual import and export cargo volume of 22,600 tons, an increase of 358.9 percent year-on-year.
