On April 13, China-Laos Railway launched cross-border passenger services with trains running in both directions between Kunming South Station in China and Vientiane Station in Laos. It allows the same-day access by train between Kunming and Vientiane and making it more convenient for people from both countries to travel. The cross-border passenger trains of the China-Laos Railway operate once a day in both directions, stopping at eight stations including Kunming South, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Mochan, Mading, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane. The whole travel time is 10 hours and 30 minutes, including the time spent on going through customs. In the next step, the railway departments of China and Laos will optimize and adjust the cross-border passenger train operation program according to the passenger flow, strengthen communication and coordination with the customs departments, and continuously improve service quality.
