China-Europe freight train YXE departs from Madrid

The Yiwu-Madrid (YXE) China-Europe freight train, specially named "China-Spain Diplomatic Relations Commemoration Train", departed from Madrid, the capital of Spain, on March 9, with the other train departing from Yiwu, China at the same time, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain.

The YXE train from Madrid carried 70 standard containers, including Spanish specialties such as red wine, olive oil, sunflower seed oil, and baby food, while the train from Yiwu to Madrid carried Chinese products such as ceramic products, electric scooters, mobile phones, and daily necessities.

At the departure ceremony, Pablo Garde, deputy secretary general of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, said the train was "a symbol of the good development of China-Spain relations", proving that "distance is not a barrier for two friendly countries".

Wu Haitao, Chinese ambassador to Spain, said at the ceremony that the "China-Spain Diplomatic Relations Commemoration Train" is a wonderful example of China-Spain economic and trade cooperation. China looks forward to working with Spain to promote key projects of the Belt and Road Initiative, including the YXE freight train, and strengthen industrial docking in the fields of the digital economy, port logistics, smart cities, clean energy, and electric vehicles.
