On September 9, 2022, Madagascar's Route Nationale 5A (RN 5A) Renovation Project financed by the Export-Import Bank of China was inaugurated. Madagascar's President Andry Nirina Rajoelina attended the inauguration ceremony. The renovation project is a key link connecting the east and west coastlines in the northern part of Madagascar and an essential part of the northern ring road network of Madagascar, with a total length of 151 km. The renovated RN 5A cuts the whole journey from 12 hours to 2.5 hours, which greatly improves the efficiency of road transportation, perfects the national trunk road network, and is of great significance for local economic and social development.
