On August 31, a China Railway Express train loaded with licorice roots as Chinese medicinal materials from Turkmenistan arrived at Xi'an International Port Station. This is the first China Railway Express train for China to import licorice roots as Chinese medicinal materials from Turkmenistan, which has opened up a new way to facilitate foreign trade, unblock logistics channels and promote win-win cooperation in the traditional Chinese medicine industry in countries along the Belt and Road.
The train carried 42 containers with 850 tons of licorice roots. The mode of sea-rail intermodal transport was adopted. The goods were shipped from the Port of Turkmenbashi and then loaded onto the freight train at Aktau Port of Kazakhstan, before entering China via Horgos Port, and finally arrived at Xi'an International Port Station.
