On August 25, a ceremony marking the successful arrival of the first special train for vehicle transport on Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway was held at the Indode Freight Station on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The train loaded with 24 vehicles departed from the port in Djibouti.

For the first time, the double-deck train was used to transport the vehicles from the port in Djibouti to Ethiopia, which is another breakthrough in freight transport of the railway. Compared with road transport, the special train not only saves 30% of the cost for clients, but also shortens the time from 3 days to 20 hours.
