On December 15, the inaugural ceremony of "Haidong-Shigatse-Nepal" highway-rail combined transport service was held at Ping'anyi railway freight yard in Ping'an District, Haidong City, Qinghai Province. The service ends at Rasuwa, Nepal with a total length of about 2,800 km. The train of 30 carriages mainly transported over 1,000 tons of daily necessities, medical supplies, agricultural and sideline products, etc. with a total value of around 1.8 million U.S. dollars. Under the highway-rail combined transport mode, the time of transportation from Haidong, Qinghai to Rasuwa, Nepal can be controlled to be within a week, which is significantly shorter than the time of maritime transportation with greater cost advantage as a whole.
