On November 25, the Lagoa do Barro (LDB) wind power expansion project independently built by the Chinese enterprise was completed and put into operation, and the construction of Tanque Novo (TN) wind power project officially kicked off. It marked further progress of Chinese enterprises in developing clean energy in Brazil, and the implementation of Chinese green development concept in this country through China-Brazil practical cooperation.
Located in Lagoa do Barro of Piaui in northeast Brazil, the LDB wind power expansion project has a total installed capacity of 82,800 kW and a design output of 366GWh each year. With its construction commencement on the same day, the TN wind power project is located in Bahia in northeast Brazil, with a total installed capacity of 180,000 kW. It is scheduled to be completed in June 2023, with its annual power generation expected to hit 720 million kWh.
Chen Peijie, Chinese Consul General in Sao Paulo said at the ceremony that how to respond to climate change and promote economic recovery is on the agenda of our times. These two wind power greenbelt projects comply with the present trend of green transition globally and the prioritized cooperation between the two countries, which are of great significance to promoting the transformation and upgrading of China-Brazil energy cooperation, effectively mitigating the local power shortage and boosting the sustainable development of Brazil.
