China's first offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station was put into operation in Macun port, Chengmai County, Hainan Province on November 20, filling the gap of domestic offshore LNG filling stations, and leading the application of LNG in marine ships.

LNG features green and low carbon, low fuel cost, high propulsion efficiency and superior performance. Popularizing LNG-powered ships can effectively reduce the emission of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides, and better protect the atmospheric environment in Hainan and the marine environment in the South China Sea, showing a great development potential. The LNG filling station in Macun port will lay a solid foundation for future industrial development.
