In order to better promote the opening-up policy and measures to improve business environment, attract multinational companies to invest in China for long-term cooperation, and facilitate international industrial chain and supply chain circulation, from June 15 to 17, 2021, around the theme of green development, the Department of International Cooperation of National Development and Reform Commission and World Economic Forum jointly arranged visits to Kunming and Chuxiong Prefecture in Yunnan Province for 18 representatives of 12 multinational enterprises to carry out special research. The aim was to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of green industries in Kunming and Chuxiong, to share industry development experience with each other, to jointly plan for investment and long-term cooperation in Yunnan, and to promote the upgrading of Yunnan's industries and high-quality economic development.
The joint team held three government-enterprise exchange activities with local governments and leading local enterprises of Yunnan, Kunming, Chuxiong. They also made field visits to Kunming Urban Planning Museum, Yunnan Dianzhong New Area, Biodiversity Park, Yunnan Baiyao Group, BOE silicon-based OLED microdisplay project, Chuxiong Yuzhe Semiconductor Co., and Chuxiong Jinko Company, Moore Farm, etc.
Official in charge of the Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC said that Yunnan is an important gateway to China's opening up to the southwest, a pilot area for China's opening up along the border, a pioneer area for the implementation of the Going Out Strategy in the western region, an important reservoir of biodiversity and an ecological security barrier in the southwest of China. The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in October this year in Kunming, Yunnan. It is hoped that through this field visit, multinational companies will gain a deeper understanding of Yunnan's improving business environment and the prospects of green industry development, and increase their confidence in investing and long-term development in Yunnan.
The trip to Yunnan is the first stop of the year for the National Development and Reform Commission and the World Economic Forum's brand event "Walking Davos". Next, the two sides will jointly organize multinational enterprises to conduct field visits in Hainan and other places.
Relevant officials from the Department of Environment and Capital of NDRC, Academy of Macroeconomic Research, China Chamber of International Commerce and the Innovation and Development Center for the Belt and Road Initiative participated in the research and discussion.
