Chinese-funded Hanoi Metro Line 2 in Vietnam is about to mark the first anniversary of its operation. It is the first urban light rail project in Vietnam and a signature infrastructure project of China-Vietnam cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road. Since the metro line was put into commercial operation, it has been highly praised by the officials of governments at all levels in Vietnam and the people of the country, and has even become a popular scenic spot in Hanoi. The 13-kilometer line has 12 elevated stations, with a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour. Since the operation of the project, there has been no failure affecting traffic safety or causing operational delay, and the proportion of trains being punctual has reached 99.8%. The line handles over 32,000 passenger trips on working days, and up to 26,000 passenger trips on weekends. The project greatly facilitates the travel of Hanoi citizens. It is of great significance for improving the functions of Hanoi's urban road network, easing traffic pressure, reducing urban traffic pollution, and promoting green travel and regional economic development.
