On April 13, a 120 km/h regular passenger train was officially put into service in the Vientiane-Boten Section of the China-Laos Railway. Meanwhile, two additional EMU trains were launched from Vientiane respectively to Luang Prabang and Muong Sai. At present, the Laos section of the China-Laos Railway operates 8 EMU train trips and 2 regular passenger train trips daily, which is a declaration that Laos has stepped into a new era of railway transportation. The great improvement in passenger transport capacity brings more choices and convenience to people along the China-Laos Railway.
It is reported that the 25G air-conditioned carriages of the regular passenger train are designed and manufactured by a Chinese company. The trains, seven in a unit, will run at a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The regular passenger train, coded K12/1, runs a round trip every day between Vientiane and Boten. There are seven stations along the line, namely Muang Phon-Hong, Vang Vieng, Kasi, Luang Prabang, Muong Nga, Muong Sai and Na Teuy.
