China-built Melamchi Water Supply Project kicks off in Nepal

The Melamchi Water Supply Project, undertaken by a Chinese company, has officially kicked off in Nepal. It is so far the largest potable water project in Nepal, with a diversion tunnel running about 26 kilometers. It is estimated that the project will supply 170 million liters of drinking water per day, and will effectively improve the water quality in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.
