Recently, in Mahalapye, about 200 kilometers north of Botswana's capital Gaborone, the local water plant upgrading project, designed and constructed by a Chinese company, was officially delivered to Botswana’s Water Utilities Corporation.

It is learnt that Mahalapye has about 110,000 residents and needs 20 million liters of domestic water every day, while the old water plant could only supply up to 16 million liters. Local people had long been in short of water supply. The water plant upgrading project mainly includes a new set of water treatment equipment capable to treat 18 million liters per day. After completion of the project, the local water supply capacity is far beyond local demands.
