China-Vietnam freight train trips up 27.3 percent in Q1

In the first quarter of this year, China-Vietnam freight trains made a total of 98 trips, with 2,940 TEUs transported, up 27.3 percent and 34.1 percent year on year respectively.
Since the beginning of this year, Guangxi has witnessed rapid development in the cross-border railway transport business. In the first quarter, a total of 57 outbound freight trains departed from China to Vietnam, up 128 percent year on year. Export goods mainly included mechanical equipment and electronic products. And those "made in China" become more and more popular among ASEAN countries. In the meantime, the imported fruit transport business maintained a good momentum of development. As of April 1, 11,366 tons of fruits had been imported via Guangxi's Pingxiang port.
Currently, more than 200 varieties of goods including traditional Chinese medicinal materials, fruits, and mechanical equipment have been transported by the China-Vietnam freight trains. In order to ensure smooth operation of cross-border freight trains and efficient customs clearance of the trains, Nanning train depot has conducted outbound train marshaling in advance to reduce the pressure of train marshaling at Pingxiang Station and contacted customs and foreign trade enterprises in advance to control inbound and outbound train flows.
