On March 23, 2022, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation within the Framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative was announced by HongYang Liu, Chinese ambassador to Malawi, and Nancy Tembo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi.
So far, the Chinese government has signed more than 200 cooperation agreements under the BRI with 149 countries and 32 international organizations.
