As the unique power grid project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) energy cooperation agreement, Pakistan's ±660kV Matiari-Lahore HVDC transmission project is the first HVDC transmission project with the highest voltage and longest transmission line in Pakistan. Its investment totals 1.658 billion U.S. dollars and the construction kicked off in December 2018. It was fully completed in October 2020 and put into commercial operation in September 2021. The project will significantly improve Pakistan's economy and people's livelihood, and play an important role in further developing CPEC and building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
