The Department of Industry is responsible for analyzing the development of industry, studying development strategies of industrialization; formulating plans for major industrial sectors, drafting industrial policies, making recommendations on relevant system reform and providing overall guidance to industrial modernization; guiding the formulation of technical regulations and standards for different sectors; guiding the assimilation and innovation of imported technologies and key outfits; coordinating the implementation of Chemical Weapons Convention; undertaking the development of the rare earth industry and the administration of the salt industry.
